ALACDE has funded an annual prize awarded to an individual who in the course of the year makes an extraordinary contribution to promoting the economic approach to law in the region and to creating a wider academic community of scholarship and research throughout the Americas, Portugal or Spain. Applicants for the award must meet these restrictions:

• The individual may be an academic or professional lawyer or economist, or an elected or appointed judge, lawmaker or official, who resides in a Latin American or the Iberian Peninsula.
• The individual shall have actively worked in the region to reform legal education by building a law curriculum around the economic approach to law, to contribute to the breaking down of the barriers that tend to divide the world of academic scholarship and research, or to shape the direction of legal education.
• The selection will be made by a small committee of scholars on the basis of the contribution made by the individual.
